My name is Jasmine and I'm a nurse. I work at the hospital in my city, at a gynaecology and maternity ward. I'm 32 years old and I live in Germany. I decided to write this blog in english. I always had a blog when I was a teenager and a young adult. I kind of miss having a blog. In between then and now I started a bookblog, but recently I had a hard time taking care of it. I don't know why or what happened, but I'm not reading as much as I did back then.
Well, back to being a nurse. This is 2021 and as everyone knows, we are still in a pandemic. We are still fighting against COVID19. I guess most people thought it would be long over by now. But since people are still getting more reckless every day, we don't actually have a chance.
At the end of March 2020, I was tested positive for COVID19. I was tested for the first time on March 28th, and got my results on March 30th. So for me personally, COVID19 became real really quick. Most people on this planet still don't know anyone who had it so I think it still feels unreal for them.
So in March, many co-workers of me also got tested positive. In the end, we were 10 people from my ward. 4 have been tested negative after 2 weeks of quarantine. Most of us were at home for a longer time than that. I was home for 5 weeks. We had to have two negative tests in a row to be allowed to enter the hospital again. My second negative test had been done at the end of April. My last day of quarantine was April 27th.
In summer we had the chance to test our antibodies. Most of us didn't have many anymore. It was only 2 months after we had COVID19.
Germany didn't want to vaccinate people who already had COVID19. I think they still won't. But we all got a letter from the hospital we work at, so I think this might be my only chance to get the vaccine. I said Yes, but I haven't heard back from them since then. I guess I will have to wait a bit because they probably are going to get the older nurses vaccinated first.
